The NAKED Optics brand has been around for 10 years now - a decade full of adventure, innovation and passion for skiing. What began as an ambitious project in 2014 has developed into a permanent fixture in winter sports. Our mission was clear from the start: to develop ski goggles that not only support athletes, but also inspire them. Today we can proudly say that many young, talented athletes have been supported by our products and are now true legends in the scene.
To celebrate our latest product launch and at the same time this special anniversary of our 10th anniversary , we have come up with an extraordinary campaign: "Built for heroes, worn by legends". This campaign symbolizes all those who find their own way on the mountain with dedication and fun - from ambitious skiers to real legends.
The concept: A tribute to our heroes
We therefore came up with something very special for our campaign. It should not only be about technology and function, but also about the feeling that our ski goggles evoke: to be perfectly equipped for an extraordinary day of skiing. This is how the idea of using a heroic marble statue - symbol of heroes and myths - as a visual metaphor for our athletes was born. A statue that stands the test of time, just like the legends that are written with our products.
The effort behind the photo shoot
What looks impressively simple and elegant from the outside was in fact a logistical and creative masterpiece. The model was Stevie Schneider, who has already done a number of creative shoots for us. Because who would be better suited to a shoot about legendary athletes than the track cobra himself? Stevie was transformed into a living statue in an elaborate process. A professional make-up artist worked simultaneously with 2 other assistants to paint our model's skin with white primer to create a perfect base for the marble effect. For a whole 3 hours! The entire work of art was then sealed using airbrush techniques.
The effort was not limited to the body painting: Our Stevie had to shave completely beforehand to ensure a flawless surface. A process that required a lot of time and patience from him the day before. The accessories, such as skis and ski boots, were also painted to be integrated into the overall image of the statue. Even the smallest elements that the model carried with him received special treatment to consistently carry through the marble theme.
The final finishing
After the shoot was completed, each image was refined again by the hands of a 3D artist. The aim was to not only portray the model as a marble statue, but to raise her up on a pedestal - a symbol of the legendary status we wanted to convey in this campaign. The pedestal should look like it came from antiquity and give our model the presence she deserves.
With our campaign we want to tell not only the story of our brand, but also the stories of athletes like you. It is a tribute to all of you who love winter sports and experience legendary moments together with NAKED Optics.
