NAKED Optics doesn't just stand for high-quality ski and sunglasses. We also continually strive to develop innovative solutions for the needs of athletes, naturally keeping up with the latest industry trends. But how exactly are our goggles created? We'll give you a glimpse behind the scenes and explain the development process of our ski goggles and sports glasses.
Brainstorming and concept development
It all starts with an intensive brainstorming session within our team. We sit down together and discuss the current problems and challenges our athletes face in the field. We also try to incorporate feedback from our customers and athletes. And we gather important insights from the latest trends at sporting trade fairs to stay on top of the latest trends.
Design and development
For the design, we work with a freelancer who has already developed several of our eyewear pairs with us. We are in constant close communication to bring the concept into tangible form. Once we are satisfied with the initial draft, we create a first model. We use 3D printing technology to produce the models quickly and precisely. These prototypes are then tested for the first time by the team on the slopes or on the road. In the process, we gather important insights that flow into further development. We always conduct several rounds of feedback loops, and the 3D-printed prototypes are tested by ourselves and selected athletes until we are completely satisfied with the concept and design.
Adjustments and production
Once the geometry and fit of the new glasses satisfy all testers, we release the design for the creation of an injection mold. The injection molds are made of stainless steel, which is a complex and costly process, so almost no further design changes are possible from this point on. The first injection-molded parts are then inspected again to ensure that the production also meets our requirements.

Color and design variants
Once the shape of the new goggles has been finalized, we set about defining the various color options. We're always looking for new inspiration and are guided by fashion colors and trends in the sports industry. When developing new ski goggles, we also design color-coordinated straps. Here, we always try to come up with new, unusual designs. Here, too, we focus on current trends and also enjoy using new technologies. Our Nova Space Bears ski goggles are created with artificial intelligence, for example.
Drive and motivation
The development of our eyewear is a complex process that requires a great deal of time, dedication, and expertise. It often takes a full year from the initial idea to the finished product. Our shared passion for sports and outdoor activities drives us. We always strive to meet our customers' needs and provide them with the best possible equipment.
