What should I consider when buying my ski helmet?

The search for the right ski helmet is best started with a measuring tape. Before ordering, you should know your exact head circumference, as this is the only way to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. You can test in seconds whether a helmet really suits your head shape: put the helmet on, leave the buckle open and shake your head. If it stays securely in place without wobbling or causing uncomfortable pressure, you’ve made the right choice.

The right ski helmet: safety features

Nowadays, many helmets are already equipped with MIPS. MIPS stands for “Multi-directional Impact Protection System” and protects your head from rotational forces even in the event of an angled impact. Unlike helmets without MIPS, this system includes an additional plastic layer on the inside of the helmet. This layer is movable. So if you fall, your head is protected on the one hand by the helmet itself. On the other hand, MIPS helps reduce the rotational forces caused by the impact.

In general, good helmet ventilation also goes hand in hand with good ventilation of the ski goggles and reduces the risk of your goggles fogging up.
