If you wear glasses, it's not so easy to keep a clear view on the slopes. Not every pair of ski goggles or snowboard goggles fits over optical goggles. We have summarized for you which options are generally available for spectacle wearers and how to find the alternatives.

Skiing with glasses: What is OTG?

If you wear glasses and are looking for the right ski goggles or snowboard goggles, you can't go past OTG. OTG stands for “over the glasses”. This means that you can wear your ski goggles over your optical glasses. However, to prevent the corrective goggles from fogging up underneath, it is important that the goggles fit together perfectly. Some ski goggles are equipped with cut-outs on the sides for this purpose. This means that the winter sports goggles fit perfectly over the optical goggles.

We also attach great importance to vision for spectacle wearers. Our ski goggles The STORM OTG and The TROOP EVO OTG offer the perfect features for wearing optical goggles underneath.

What is an optical use for ski glasses?

The eyewear market is very large and full of innovations. For spectacle wearers, there is also the option of having an insert made with the correct prescription. The insert can then be easily attached to the ski goggles or snowboard goggles. The optical insert is the perfect solution for all spectacle wearers who do not want to wear optical glasses under their ski goggles. It's best to simply discuss this with your optician and have an insert made for you. Et voilá: Clear view!

Are there also ski goggles with prescription?

If OTG ski goggles or optical inserts are not for you, there is another option for spectacle wearers. Some companies and opticians offer ski goggles and snowboard goggles with prescription lenses. The lenses are individually adapted to the customer. As an optician's license is required for this option, there are still very few providers of ski goggles with prescription lenses. The next time you visit your optician, you can simply ask where such goggles are available.

Skiing with glasses: What alternative is there?

Contact lenses are of course a popular alternative for spectacle wearers when doing sports. With them, winter sports enthusiasts always have the best view and don't have to deal with the annoying fogging of ski goggles. However, if you opt for this option, you don't necessarily have to switch to contact lenses in general. Simple daily lenses are perfectly adequate. Guess what: Here too, your optician is the best point of contact and can advise you on the purchase of contact lenses for sporting activities.
