The NAKED Optics team has done some research for you and discovered 5 great hiking trails with lakes close by all over the country. Sonnstein at Traunsee in Upper Austria
The first tip leads us to Upper Austria. More precisely, to the small village called Ebensee. The village is not only known for a colourful carnival, but also for a breathtaking landscape. One highlight is the mountain Sonnstein which consists of the small and large Sonnstein. Starting point of the hike is either in Trauneck or Traunkirchen. First, we reach the small Sonnstein at 923m. In case you have still enough power you can reach the big Sonnstein at 1.037m. You can hike up to both peaks in about 3 hours. Rewarded is the great view over the region of the Traunsee. The lake is also the perfect place for a jump into the cool water after the hike. There are a lot of bathing places around the lake.
Bleckwand at Wolfgangsee in Salzburg
One of the best hikes for every outdoor enthusiast is definitely the Bleckwand in Salzkammergut. The mountain attracts attention especially because the rock window at the summit, which is perfect for a unique photo. You can start the hike either in Geschwendt, Strobl or even further up at a toll station. Depending on the starting point, the summit at 1.516m can be reached in about 2.30 hours. Once at the top, you will not only have a fantastic view of Wolfgangsee, but also of the Schafberg.

Small Schoberstein and Frauenkopf at Fuschlsee in Salzburg
Attention all nature fans: You should definitely put little Schoberstein and Frauenkopf at Fuschlsee on your hiking list. Thanks to the secured climbing passages, this hike will be a great experience for everyone. The starting point is either in the center of Fuschl am See or at the forester's house Wartenfels. The summit of the small Schoberstein at 1,328m and the summit of the Frauenkopf at 1,300m are not far apart. The hike takes around 1 hour. From above you can enjoy the beautiful view on Fuschlsee. The lake is definitely a good spot for a chill afternoon with friends.
Ebner Joch at Achensee in Tirol
In the western part of Austria there are also great and demanding hikes. One of them leads to the Ebner Joch near the largest lake of Tyrol, the Achensee. There are several starting points. You can start the mountain tour either in Maurach or at a car park in Eben. The trail leads over the Buchaueralm and avalanche dams to the 1,957m high summit of the Ebner Joch. The ascent will be rewarded at the top with a great view on the Rofan and Karwendel mountains. The hike to the summit takes about 4 hours. Afterwards you can spend the perfect afternoon at the Achensee. Outdoor lovers can try some crazy activities on the water such as surfing or sailing.

From Kohlröselhütte to Naggler Alm and Weißensee in Carinthia
A hike of about 4.30 hours is waiting for every mountain lover in Carinthia. The hike leads from the Kohlröselhütte to the Naggler Alm. Afterwards the Weißensee is the perfect place to end the hike in a relaxed atmosphere. Starting point of the tour is either in the Gitschtal or up at the mountain station Weißensee, which can be reached with the gondola. The summit is at 1.532m. You can reach it in about 4.30 hours. The effort will be rewarded with a wonderful view. You should definitely jump into the Weißensee.
